Set of 8 Danish Mid-Century Modern Dining Chairs by Erik Buch, 1960s Scandinavian Design

These eight dining chairs represent a rare and cohesive find: a complete set by Erik Buch (1923–1982), one of Denmark's most revered mid-century furniture designers. Created in the 1960s, each chair exemplifies Buch's mastery of clean organic line and refined proportion, the kind of quietly confident design that defines the golden era of Danish modern furniture.

The Chairs

Frames are crafted from teak, displaying beautifully warm grain and a rich original patina that speaks to decades of careful ownership. The sculptural frames are particularly striking with gently tapered legs, elegant stretcher detailing, and a softly curved backrest that manages to feel both supportive and light. The upholstery has been professionally renewed in a crisp warm cream/sand fabric, fresh and immaculate throughout. All eight chairs are sold together as a complete set.

Erik Buch

Buch produced over 30 distinct furniture designs across his career, each executed under meticulous quality oversight. His work consistently achieves the balance of form and function that defines Danish modern design: pieces that are visually refined without ever sacrificing comfort or practicality. Complete matching sets of eight in this condition are increasingly scarce, as most have been separated or lost to unsuitable restoration over the decades.

Care

Teak responds beautifully to occasional treatment with a natural teak oil, applied sparingly two to three times a year. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to preserve the original warm tone.
